Howutu Tiyaxu writes resumes and professional profiles for people returning to work after two or more years away. The process starts with a call, not a form.

The Process

How it works

Three steps from first contact to finished documents. No writing begins until the intake call is complete.

01

Intake Call

A 30-minute call covers your work history, the gap period, skills developed outside employment, and the types of roles you are targeting. This information drives everything that follows.

No questionnaire replaces this step. The call surfaces context that written forms miss.

02

Writing and Draft

The writer produces your resume and, if included in the package, your LinkedIn profile. Documents are formatted for applicant tracking systems and written to reflect your actual voice.

Drafts are delivered within the agreed turnaround window.

03

Review and Revision

You review the draft and send feedback. One complete round of revisions is included. Changes are applied and the final version is returned.

The revision round covers content, tone, phrasing, and structure. Not limited to minor corrections.

Who This Is For

Written for people who have been away from work

A two-year gap changes how a resume needs to be written. The standard templates and advice aimed at active job seekers do not account for the specific challenges of re-entry: how to address the gap, how to present skills developed outside formal employment, and how to frame older experience so it reads as current and relevant.

Howutu Tiyaxu works exclusively with this group. The intake call is designed around the re-entry situation, not adapted from a general career coaching model.

Clients have taken time away for caregiving, health recovery, relocation, further education, or personal circumstances. The writing process treats each situation as distinct rather than applying a single gap-handling formula.

The Approach

What the intake call changes

Conversation before writing

Most resume services start with a form. The intake call starts with a conversation. The distinction affects what information gets captured and how it is used.

Gap addressed directly

The gap period is treated as part of the professional narrative, not something to minimize or hide. How it is framed depends on the individual circumstances discussed during the call.

Targeted to specific roles

The intake call identifies the types of positions being targeted. The resume is written toward those roles rather than written generically and then adjusted.

One revision, no time pressure

The revision round has no expiration. Clients review the draft at their own pace and submit feedback when ready. The revision covers the full document, not individual sections.

The gap is part of the story.
The resume should reflect that.

Common Questions

FAQ

The service is designed for people who have been away from paid employment for two or more consecutive years. The reason for the gap does not determine eligibility. Caregiving, health circumstances, relocation, extended education, or personal decisions all fall within the scope of what the intake call is designed to address.

The call runs approximately 30 minutes. It covers your employment history before the gap, the nature of the gap period itself, any skills or activities during that time, and the types of roles you are now targeting. The call is conducted by the writer who will work on your documents, not a separate intake coordinator. Notes from the call directly inform the writing.

There is no single formula. The approach depends on what happened during the gap and what the client is comfortable disclosing. Some clients prefer a functional format that foregrounds skills. Others prefer a chronological format with a brief, neutral explanation of the gap period. The intake call determines which approach fits the individual situation. The writer does not apply a default method.

One complete revision round is included with every package. This covers the full document: content, phrasing, tone, structure, and formatting. It is not limited to minor corrections. Clients submit their feedback in writing after reviewing the draft, and the revised version is returned within the same turnaround window.

The turnaround time is confirmed at the time of booking and depends on current availability and the scope of the package. The turnaround clock starts after the intake call, not after payment. Clients receive an estimated delivery date before the call takes place.

No. The LinkedIn service covers written content only: the headline, the about section, and the experience entries. It does not include advice on LinkedIn strategy, connection requests, or job search activity. The scope is limited to what is written on the profile page.
